    Hi,

I’ve had an A4 for a while now and with the family getting bigger and i am looking at giving it back once the lease finished in a couple of months.

I’ve always liked the Q7 but to be honest never had the need for the space and the cost of them was outside of budget. However I am now in a position to consider a second hand one ideally a 2016/2017 one, with about 30k on the clock.

I am wondering what I should be looking for, any issues I should be aware of?

Also what’s the best engine to go for and are there any specific options I should consider?

    Thanks in advance

    Pete

Beware coolant leaks. If it's out of warranty, you'd be looking at £700+ to get it sorted.
Brake-pads and discs. A few of us have needed to have them replaced and that's north of a £thou.
There have been a few recalls for things like seat-fixings, they should have all been done.
If you live in a woody area, or park your car near trees, I've noticed my Q7 suffers the same problem as my A6 in filling up the plenum with leaves, which can lead to blockages and flooding (I've not had this problem on my Q7 but it was a pain on my A6)

Just to add, if you have the sunroof, it can creak and rattle and so forth and there is a Warranty TPI for it the dealer can apply (extra padding/felt and so forth) which fixes it. I've had it done and know some other folks on here who also have had it done

Same goes for rattling B Pillars (where the front seat belts are)

Otherwise not much else I can think of off top my head. The only other thing was early models (2015/2016 MY) some were susceptible to a rattling tensioner at low RPM and you could hear it when the car was cold and started and idle'd... a rattling noise. This I also had done (and Inchshort on this forum did too) and its a 2 week piece of work for them to remove engine from car and fix but I have to say its been much better since. It only applies to a certain VIN range of cars though.

    HTH
