This light is intermittent on my 1.9 Tdi pd 105. When stopped and started it goes off, but after driving it will come on once briefly - Then go off, then come back on but wont go off until the car is stopped and started. It sounds really sweet running and is done under 100k miles

The car has got a 2nd hand turbo fitted (working perfect)
At the time of fitting the sump was also removed and cleaned out along with the pickup pipe
    Oil and filter changed
New oil sensor beside filter fitted

What else could this be? As I need to get it sorted ASAP!

Was the problem there before all the work or did it appear after?

The car was bought with a 'whiney' turbo as part of a trade in. This light was on at that time also.

You should have a proper hot oil pressure test done. Do you know exactly which oil pressure switch was fitted?

Do you mean as in brand of oil pressure switch? It probably was just from my local motorfactors, I would contact my mechanic but I know hes on holidays atm.

I might add the car does not put out any smoke, no leaks, and the level remains the same. Like I say the engine also sounds really sweet!

There are a number of different switches used with very specific operating ranges and just a tiny difference can cause the alarm to go off as it is a dynamic system rather than the old fashioned low pressure makes contact idea, that went out with VAG in the early 80’s with an excellent twin switch dynamic system but when the Golf 4 came along they cheapened the system by using one switch finely tuned to detect problems so fit a 1.2>1.6 Bar switch where you should have a 0.55>0.85 Bar (they have the same thread and connection), then you are going to have issues.

Dont always assume the part number you remove is the correct number to replace the item with. Crasher spotted someone previously had fitted a petrol oil pressure switch to a diesel golf I had with a switch failure. As already said get a oil pressure test done to make sure you have good oil pressure.
