Well that explains why my temp gauge wouldn't come up to where it should be. I just went to fit a new thermostat and there wasn't one in the housing.

I changed the coolant temperature sensor too while I was at it. Wow that's a bitch of a job to do.

All done now though and gauge is right on 90 degrees and gets there in just a few minutes. And heater is toasty warm too. Hopefully my mpg will improve as well

Don’t worry about what the gauge says now, it reads 90 when the real temp is between 77 and 117. It is obvious bodge mechanics are alive and well, what worries me is when in years to come people mess around with Lithium Ion battery cooling systems WHEN they fail, who goes to prison when one explodes during a cruise on the motorway with a family of five on board... remember these words as it will happen...

Ohh they have to make a noise now, up to 12mph... I can see the market opening up for personalised sound downloads, crazy frog anybody? Anyway, no matter how much noise a vehicle makes, it would not have stopped the stupid girl who walked out in front of me as I came out of a 40 into a 30 off the ring road this morning, she was staring at her phone and wearing headphones, completely oblivious to what was going on around her and didn't even notice me making an emergency stop and hooting, not even a flicker of recognition, not even a raised digit or dirty look! If I had flattened her, I would have got the blame for her stupidity.

It'd be great to have a choice of engine noises. Each day you could decide go with a V8, a V12 or a straight six. Or maybe a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine sound.
