    Hi all,

I am new to this forum. Looking for some help on a misfire my car is experiencing on bank 2.

I have bought the car with valve related issue. After tearing the engine down and replacing damaged parts, the car now runs but with misfire in bank 2 cylinders (4,5 &6). Seems like cylinder 5 has more misfires than the others.

I have replaced the coil pack as the connector was damaged. However, it did not solve the misfire issue.

Here is the VCDS scan result. Noticed that the Lambda Control Bank 2 Sensor 1 is reading law range compared to bank 1.

It would be much appreciated if you could advise on the next steps.

I would say your valve timing is out, what did you use to set it? The cam VVT actuators are well known for causing misfires and take care as on these, a misfire can flame and melt the cat, a surprisingly common problem on this engine

leak down test? Cam timing 100% this would cause misfire and allow unburnt fuel through to mess up the readings.

    Thanks for your reply.

I have used the timing kit to lock both crank and cams for correct timing.

Your are right about the variable valve solenoid, mine came out in two pieces. Unfortunately, I have put the broken part back when reassembling the engine till I discovered it is faulty. Just fitted a replacement part so hopefully all good now.

I will try to reset the timing of this bank.

    Many thanks

    Thanks for your reply.

I don't have the tool to do leak down test, would compression test help in this situation?

A compression test is not as informative but can show up any more obvious issues.

What are the engine block 93 readings? That will give you insight into the state of the timing. Post them up here, Bank 1 intake and exhaust, bank 2 intake and exhaust.

You said you did an engine teardown - did you remove the intake manifold? Have you held the actuator open while reseating it so that the flap doesn’t get trapped on the wrong side of the divider in the lower manifold? Your P2070 code suggests that’s a possible issue.
