    Hi all

Got the dreaded v157 no signal a while back, so bought a 2ndhand unit but still had the same code, am about to bite the bullet & get a new 1 (£189), but have a nagging doubt about wiring issue.

When I unplug it, the code changes to open circuit. so I'm assuming there are no breaks in the wiring as a broken cable would throw up an open circuit code all the time. Am i correct in this assumption? As I don't really want to spend £189 on a new unit if it's a wiring issue.

My knowledge of auto electrics is non existent, but I do have a multi-meter & armed with the knowledge of how to check it, I think I could probably manage it.

I have read that the air intake motor sensor gets crapped up & fails, so should I just grab a new 1 & ft it.

    Cheers

    Robin

Without being at work and using ELSA to check I cannot see if that one is fused.

Both of the units (original 1 & the 2nd hand 1) I've got work, just no signal. I've had the hose off & watched them open & close. Hence my concern about wiring, but if it's probably the sensor inside the unit not sending a signal then I'll have to grab a new 1.
I suppose my question is, what has been other people's experience, is it normally the unit screwed web this fault code?

If it is operating then it is most likely the unit at fault, this is why I won’t use second hand parts as I can’t afford the lost time.

Ok, so I've put a new 1 on & still getting the same fault code 157 no signal. Does the new unit need to be coded for my van? I've heard they are plug & play, but they go in a variety of different cars & vans, so surely they'd need some sort of coding. Any suggestions/help greatly appreciated. Also have another issue, but will post in another thread as I don't think it's related.
