Bought a brand new Q5 2 litre TFSI for the Wife around a year ago and we absolutely love it. It's now time to replace my ten year old Honda Civic.

Collecting a 2016 A6 C7 2 litre TDI S Line Black Edition with the Technology pack tomorrow. Black, with 20" twin spoke wheels. Has all the toys I want; heated seats, electrically adjustable seats, powered folding mirrors, hill assist, Bose audio. Well happy with it.

I signed almost 3 weeks ago, but it had to be transported from Basingstoke to the North East, and they've done £3.5k worth of work to it.

First on my list is the Audi Smartphone Interface, so I can have Android Auto. Anyone know an approved VAG garage who will program it for me if I get the Activation Pack off the German Audi site?

    Cheers,

    BS...

Enjoy your new A6 Sir. I can tell you from my experience, the Audi Smartphone is a gigantic disappointment. When I had my first A7 with Audi Connect all I hankered after was Smartphone, so I changed car and got Smartphone plus all the fancy radar self parking, lane assist and all that.

I can't get enough of the gadgets, but I have never bothered with smartphone again. I tried it with Android Samsung S9 and now iPhone X. Its close to useless. The mere fact that you have to physically connect your phone with a proper USB lead defeats the whole purpose of having Smartphone and Wireless charging bay.

Talk about giving with one hand and taking with the other. C'mon Audi.

These cars are not 'connected' at all, way behind other (more affordable and prestige) brands in this respect. But you can't really get a feel for how weak the Smartphone implementation and User Interface is until you try it !

Anyway enjoy your new car, the A6 C7 are beauties.

That's disappointing, but thanks very much for the heads up.

I'll have to find another way to read WhatsApp messages whilst driving.

    Cheers,

Please don't read messages whilst driving.....a lot of innocent people have been killed whilst people do that.

Think the OP is talking about the ability to have it converted to speech, same as the Tech pack dose for emails and news items. There is a read option on the screen select that button and you get the message via voice. But I guess it could be seen the same as talking on the phone, it's a distraction.

Yeah, I don't read messages whilst driving, that's exactly why I want this feature, to read them for me. When one comes through you get a pop up on the screen, you scroll the MMI wheel once up and click, then it reads the message to you, all without taking my eyes off the road. It then asks you if you want to reply, then you can dictate a reply. It's excellent in our Q5.

Might have to try to find someone in the North East who has it in their C7, so I check it out for myself.

    Cheers,

If you wouldn't mind, could you elaborate on why you were disappointed? Is it just because you have to connect your phone with a cable? I think you have to do that with all cars, don't you?

Does it allow you to use WhatsApp, Waze, Google Podcasts, that sort of thing? Not really bothered about the Google Maps on it, as I can do that on my MMI, but I'm going to be doing a lot of driving in the near future and I'd love the capabilities the Wife has in her 18 plate Q5.

    Cheers,

    BS...
