    Hi ,
    So the car is Audi A6 C6 - 4.2 millage 130k.

    A bit of introduction :

Scan before purchase showed a mountain of errors.
Deleted , did a test drive, came back couple days later .
Scan - not bad, engine mount and component protection, SAI pump gone, and some bits.
    __
Surprised it showed rear light failure although seamed to work fine, but the housing was damaged so decided to replace it in near distant future.
Car came with quite the history, so gone through it an ok, bulb error came back couple of times but seamed to work fine , so ignored.
Last week standing in traffic, while releasing the brake it happened:
ESP FAULT, bla bla . surprised my brake light are always ON.

    VCDS :
    00526 - Brake Light Switch-F
    011 - Open Circuit - Intermittent

Disconnected the battery terminal for a second and lights off.
    TPS was closed so Eurocarparts ( i know ... ) got a switch .
Installed it , ABS,, ESP, Could not take the key out ... All sorts of errors.
After couple of hours of fight with it, but back the old switch after cleaning it ...
Works fine ... went for a short ride ... ESP ....
next morning TPS, got an OM switch , read the internet abut proper installation / ELSA was help full to.
New switch on, all working nice , went to work ( 5 m drive ), got back all working fine no errors.
Put it back together , next day .. ESP ... Brake light Switch...
Got %^%$%^ ... as the light ware on, battery terminal of for a sec , lights went off. disconnected the Damaged light, give it a bit of a clean ( bulb holder), replaced the bulbs . fit it back .. all works fine.
two days later ... ESP ... ##!@ ... Disconnected the Light, drove for like 200 m and all the warning lights went out ( apart from the bulb warning light (as they ware disconnected ))
dint clean the errors , went to TPS to order new light will be with me Saturday (182.50 less in pocket) on my way back, esp light. turn engine off, on and light gone.

    Now the question :
Can faulty lights do this ??
When i test the switch when error occurs its not working correctly.
When i tested the switch 1 h ago (same switch) its all working fine.
Not sure it the test switch and brake switch should "activate" at this same time . but i did it a good 30 times and works fine ....

Any other issues might cause such a behaviour ?

And it appears the car had similar issues 3 years ago : tail light was replaced ( one looks newish ), brake light switch and handbrake switch.

    Thanks,
    Chris

Yes I got them but only well after the sun was well over the yard arm.....

The genuine switch you fitted, was it part number 1K2 945 511 RDW and did you fit it with the pedal up or pushed down?
