    Hi,
The problem I have is that the car suddenly starting losing power as I was driving on a dual carriageway at 70 mph (seriously!), I was able to continue at much reduced speed to get to safe place to stop, about a mile further on. Although just about still running the engine was making very loud clattering noises, (like it was running on). When recovered, there were initially no error codes. Initial investigations at my local garage confirmed fuel was reaching the fuel filter, but they were unable to help further.
Towed car home, and now it has P0321 error, implausible signal, short to plus.

I have changed the sensor with a new HAAS one, no change, then had the ECU tested by ECUTesting ltd, and this came back as no fault found. I have checked the wiring for continuity and shorts to positive and ground and all checks out as expected.
What I am thinking to do now is test the old sensor I took out to see if it still good before I try changing it for an another new one from a different supplier.
Or what else can I do?

Not another BMN! Was there ever such a rare engine that gave such a disproportionate amount of trouble, since the CT? If you remember the CT you are getting old.... Which Haas part number sensor did you fit and what is the part number off of the old one?

I have a second new HAAS sensor also from EuroCarParts (same as first one) with the number SN3 419440441 and G417 on it. The old one has the following: VW AG ABE Germany and PA66 GF30<

    thanks
I also went to an Audi main dealer and asked to see an official Audi part for this sensor and he brought out a HAAS sensor too, (Didn't check the numbers tho'), but it was twice the price cf EuroCarParts.

There will be a 9 digit number on the VAG original either 036 906 433 B or E, the one made by AB Electronic is the E, I can’t find a way to check this with Haas as they are not on the trade cross reference system Tec Doc, which is odd if they do it, but ECP cross reference it to their number 419440441.

Without being able to cross reference the VAG number 036 906 433 E to a Haas number I worry that you have equivalent to 036 906 433 B which puts the alignment pin in the wrong position, ETKA shows that there is no way to know which matching crankshaft oil seal holder/speed ring you have without pulling the box and flywheel.

OK, I will try and ask the question of EuroCarParts tomorrow, but the problem that occurred has remained constant after changing the sensor, testing the ECU and checking continuity of the wiring.
I am open to what else may cause this problem

I today confirmed in person at EuroCarParts that my original part (036 906 433E) is the equivalent of their part no. 419440441.
Not the B suffix. I hope this helps move your diagnosis along.

You need to get your hands on an oscilloscope, preferably a dual trace, and look at the signal from the sensor at the ECU plug and if you have a dual trace, compare the signal to the G40 BUT you need a baseline of a good output to compare it to. Take care when back probing the ECU plug, VAG insist that you use a breakout box but these are daft money, although they do come up on fleaBay. I have never had to replace a crank sender phonic ring for failure yet, only oil leaks.
