I've owned a 68 plate A6 Saloon 2.0TDI S Tronic Sline for 6 months now, picked the car up from new and have now done around 16000 miles. The car has been almost faultless thrthroughout but recently I've notice a few little issues that are really annoying, just wondered if anyone else has experienced similar:

    • A rattle from the dashboard that is driving me crazy, I can't seem to locate it anywhere!
    • On occasions and in particular if i start the car up again straight after driving it, some of the electrical systems become disabled for no reason. It affects the main beam assist, pre sense, automatic wipers, automatic headlights.
    • I have two mobile phone, both are which are connected to the car and from time to time when driving the bluetooth disconnects for no reason and leaves me fumbling to try and connect them in the event of a phone call!!
    • Finally and my biggest pet hate is the Audi pre sense! I've turned it down to its least sensitive setting but its still so intrusive and slams the brakes on for no reason! Is there a way of turning this off completely?

Its going in for its first service next week so I'll be reporting these issues to the dealer but I just wondered if anyone is having similar issues and if so have they been resolved?

If you turn the pre sense off (it can be via the diagnostic interface) you will have to tell your insurance company as they will have calculated your premium based on its presence.

Yes, this. I got mine in December and have done about 12k. I get issues with main beam assist etc etc about once a week. It always resolves itself but is very annoying I must admit.

There has been a Pre-Sense software update which probaboy applies to your car (my own car was built in September 2018 and needed the update). Major problem it solves is the sensors not initiating correctly but it also seems (in my experience) to reduce the instances of unneceeasry intervention by the Pre-Sense system. Should be picked up the service team before you drop the car off, but worth checking

I can see the insurance claim form now “I ran into the back of the car in front because the pre sense didn’t work, now on a forum I have found out my system needs a software update”.... who gets the blame? There is some real fun coming in the motor trade...

I’m more concerned about the car behind driving into me because the pre-sense slammed the brakes on because it sensed a pedestrian on the pavement

I think, this will be the reason of the complete fail of the fully autonomous driving:

This will eliminate the driver's failures, but will increase the idiocracy of the pedestrians. They will jump in front of the car, just like "it will surely stop", so there'll be approximately the same ammount of fatal incidens as of it's now.

Yes, but who gets the blame? I have bought “Autonomous Driving, how the driverless revolution will change the world” but within three pages I was screaming at the book and Mrs Crasher took it off me....

There is a software update for the erroneous warnings that seems to do the trick. My car has an intermittent faint rattle that seems to come from the glove box area, but this seems to have got better as the weather has got warmer. My car has only applied the brakes in panic mode once but the pre-sense icon often lights up in the virtual cockpit.

With the way Audi drivers tailgate me I imagine the light must be on all the time....
