A6 (C6) heater blowing hot - query re fixing this?

My good o'l A6 (05 reg 3ltr estate) is blowing hot air out of the dash vents near to the doors. I'm guess this is due to one or other of the solenoid valves under the bonnet being stuck or faulty?

Anyway, I went to lift the 2 covers off to have a look but immediately got coolant leaking out. Is this to be expected or are my valves completely b......., er, due for replacement? I must admit the engine wasn't cold during the 5mins I had a chance to look ...

I would do an HVAC scan first but yes it sounds like replacing the valve unit 4F2 959 617 B would be a good idea, they cost £348.25 from Audi.

yes coolant will leak out.

clean them and try in the morning, worked for me and i was about to buy fans ...
Is it blowing just out of the two wents ? or hot all together ??

yeah mines doing the same thing at the moment ... not good especially this time of the year lol

to temp fix while driving - crank the temp up full for a few seconds then bring back down

Had same issue on mine, i took the solenoids out and cleaned them to get rid of a ll the black marks and I've not had the issue since (about 9 months ago)
