Speed sign recognition

Can I check with those who have this from the factory that it picks up the speed limits shown on gantries above smart motorways?

I have added speed sign recognition with a Kufatec dongle, works fine except it is not picking up the gantries. Wondering if I have missed something in the coding?

It does pick them up - but only sometimes. It seems to be quite good on the M25 and M42 gantries, where there is probably a 60% success rate, but on other motorways the detection rate is much lower. On the M3, where the speed limit is displayed on a single large matrix sign on the nearside of the road, the detection rate is zero.

Generally, it has turned out to be a rubbish option (£250) - often the speed limit shown is completely wrong and the system would be vastly more accurate if it showed the speed limit data that is encoded into the sat nav maps.

I am not sure how the authorities plan to implement this much-discussed mandatory speed limiting technology, but it won't be based on Audi's speed sign recognition system if they want it to work! In fact, my experience with the Audi system gives me hope that it will be long after 2022 when cars finally have their speed automatically limited to the prevailing maximum.
