Thanks guys for all the help, the part arrived yesterday and I'll attempt to fit it over the weekend.

One last thing, does anyone have any guides/pictures that may help before I go searching the internet for some?

    Many thanks.

    Nick.

One piece of advice, if it is a sensor in the stainless steel cat/dpf, spray the sensor thread top area with some high quality graphite based release fluid such as Buy Rust remover Rost Off Black online and crack the sensor lose, then a touch more lube (metal based lube isn't a good idea if it gets into the cat) to get under the sensor and down a thread or two and slowly undo the sensor, a little more lube, back in a bit and back out again and feel for the thread "galling" where it will start to go tight and be reluctant to go back in. If this happens it needs some hot spanner on the threaded boss or you will end up having to remove the cat/DPF unit to have the thread repaired. Stainless steel, especially the cat/dpf mix of low grade and senor high grade is prone to galling AKA “Cold Welding” and this happens a lot with the first temp and lambda sensors. If removing the sensor from the cast iron manifold this does not tend to happen. The new sensor MUST have the thread coated with an ultra high temp lubricant such as Buy High-temperature lubricant paste HSP 1400 online and I also use NickelSlip but it is banned now and evil nasty stuff but a metal free paste is the best idea with a approx 1400°c max temp range to cope with the circa 950°c I often see during a forced regen.

Thanks, I'll try and get some of that.

Yes it's error P0546 Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor Circuit High (Bank 1) I'm seeing so I've ordered 03L 907 088 BS as per your post (
    Sender 1 G235 in the
    exhaust manifold
    before the turbo 03L 906 088 AN which changed to 03G 906 088 AT and is now 03L 906 088 BS).

Fingers crossed it all goes to plan!

That is into the cast iron of the manifold so should come out, a little wipe of anti seize on the threads won't harm but thinking about non metallic wont conduct and could cause the sensor to get too hot, rather like when people grease spark plug threads it raises the plug temp by reducing heat transfer so that is what I would use Nickelslip for. I suppose Wurth's ally paste would be good enough at 1100 degrees, I would post you a sachet but now sending snail mail from here is a right pain generating tickets and stuff and my business partner would whinge at me but if you send me a SAE I can slip..... it past him...

No, that is not the G235 the one in your picture is the POST DPF sensor. PM me your email address and I'll send you some useful stuff relating to your engine.
