Agreed. Regarding the MX bike, or indeed any 2 smoke on song.

I'm new here so can't possibly comment on another forum user, plus don't really want to rock the boat...

I have to say, this is a pretty impressive forum. Probably the best I've visited for technical info and know how.

I have soul, I was near tears hearing eight Merlin's pass over head at the Three Sisters Lanc meet and the fumes from the Vulcan also made my eyes water...

I'll give you that. Must have been special to see the two Lancasters and the Vulcan. Such a shame XH588 is now grounded.

Tears... That'll be the diesel fumes.... ;-)

    Morning all,

So, I decided against doing the pressure sensor myself, and instead took it to a local garage on a recommendation, who diagnosed the same component, fitted one and then couldn't get the car to do a re-gen. They have said it's now a main dealer job. I don't believe they have VCDS. Would this matter?

Any suggestions where to look after the pressure differential sensor? I'm wondering whether to have the DPF removed and cleaned, or pick up a used one.. This may be false economy, but the advantage is that it comes with all the sensors, so my thinking is that it gives me a complete set of sensors to work with, plus a spare DPF... The only difference being that is for a CDUC engine, mine is CDUD. Both are 245bhp engines.

    Any suggestions/advice?

Not sure what you mean. If the DPF is restricted, take it off and send it to DPF Clean Team in Hinkley, they do all ours and have never failed me even with some seriously blocked units. Sometimes I struggle to get VCDS to do a regen, it is not always very clear what to do and the login values and channels don't always come up so yes it becomes the dealer system ODIS which some indi's like us have.

    Thanks for the reply, Crasher.

Sorry, I meant what is likely to be the reason for a failed regen following replacement of the pressure differential sensor. I wondered if one of the EGT sensors had become clogged, preventing the regen.

That's a great peace of advice - thanks. I know it happens, but wasn't sure if it was an acceptable practice. If I were forced to an Audi dealer, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't offer to clean the DPF when they can sell a new one.

I've done some ringing around today and found an Independent VAG specialist, who have VCDS, ODIS and Elsawin so if the local chap can't sort it, I have another option, other than the main dealer.

Out of interest, what's the difference between a CDUC and a CDUD engine? Both are 180Kw/245hp and appear to have been fitted to the A7 from 2010 onwards. I've seen a DPF from a CDUC for sale, with sensors and have been considering getting it.

Not sure where you are but there's a good indie in Basingstoke, I would certainly be talking to him about it, he's half the price of the main dealer and is more workshop focused. As you say, Audi's first reaction is to sell a new unit.

    Morning All,

Just a quick update on the DPF issue. Had the car recovered from local Garage A to Garage B, who are an indie VAG specialist. They threw some DPF cleaner at it, carried out a forced regen then road tested it a few times. No fault codes following the regen, so no parts used.. Garage A changed the pressure differential sensor, but that didn't work, so I'm guessing they put the original back as they didn't charge for it. All a bit of a mystery. Possibly driver error - replace driver...

It's due a good run, so we'll see how it gets on.

    Thanks again for the input.
