I see that some manufacturers are now supplying the latest models with rear lights activated with the DRLs - surely this a safety feature worth incorporating?

Can anybody advise if this can be done with VCDS?

    Many thanks

Have managed to do this using Carista, a great OBD product from Amazon - a bargain at just £16

I am hearing some good things about Carista, a customer had it in his car and it looked good.

There are two options for turning on the tail lights with DRLs with Carista. The first is to use the Scandinavian option. This turns on all rear lights including number plate lights, and also turns on the front parking lights (difficult to see).
The second option is to turn on the left and/or right tail lights. I guess the choice of having just one (the outer) or both is up to user preference! This option only illuminated the inner tail lights on the boot opening.
I decided for the Scandinavian option on the basis of more lights the better
Have yet to experiment with other options

Agreed Carista is great for various mods - in a safe way as these are well tried and tested requiring no tricky coding, which if done incorrectly can cause chaos. My Golf has Scandinavian DRL option Carista enabled successfully. Polo has the same and also auto lock at 10 mph a feature only on the model above.

Something that is ******* me off is this new fashion for coding the front indicators as DRL’s, don’t these people realise that if they get involved in an accident they are going to get screwed? Their insurance will be invalid and they could end up in serious ****...
