    Hello one and all.

I have an issue with the child lock system on my 2013 A6. When I've been anywhere and I park up I select park and open the drivers door, the settings on my motor is that everything shuts down parking brake auto applies but my son tries to get out of the car and the child lock is armed for some reason. Just wondering if anyone has had this issue and any ideas on rectifying it. I have had my vcds on the car and it's coming up with no fault codes at all.

Ps I'm not catching the button on the door either 😉

    Any clues are gratefully received.
    Thanks in advance.

    Danny.

You have 2 buttons on the drivers door to set the child locks and turn off the rear window switches, if illuminated the child locks are on.

    Thanks for the reply Kev.

I probably wasn't clear with my explanation.

I dont use the child locks as my boy is 8. Just recently the side of the car that he sits on has developed a fault which automatically arms his door, and not the other side.

Obviously all I need to do is remember to disarm his door as I'm getting out but would like to have it working normally, or just get him to sit on the other side. 😂😂

Have you checked the door? You can insert your key and manually turn the child lock on or off, not sure if this activates or overrides the drivers door switch for the child locks.
Also cant remember ever seeing anything in the MMI to automatically turn on child locks, I use mine for my 3 year old and 18month old boys.
Have you had the car long? Did you used to have the child lock on all the time? Just wondering if the car has learnt you normally have it set in the ON position and so sets it to that position, I know they save the heat settings etc to which key is being used.

Funnily enough I looked at that the other day and tried to override it with the key to no avail. I haven't come across anything in the MMI either. Had the car 2 years next month, and never used the child locks. The mind boggles!! I'll have a look if theres any foreign matter in the locking mechanism later not that I think it will make a difference.

Is it definitely the child lock? When the doors are autolocked it requires 2 pulls of the internal lever to open the door. may be that for some reason that door is not disabling the autolock functionality whenyou open the driver's door

Yes, the light comes on on the drivers door just for the near side rear door. On mine I only have to pull lever once to open door with the auto lock active. My lad is pulling on the lever to no avail even 3 - 4 times.
