Having done the OTA navigation update a couple of weeks ago when the prompt came up I realised that it only updated the data for the region I was in (South East England), all of the other data UK and further afield was still the version installed in the car at the time of production. Thought I would do the full download from MyAudi, especially as a roundabout near me that was changed last year is howing as the old configuratuon yet it hasvbeen right in my wife's Golf since last summer leading me to wonder if I have actually had an update. Couple of issues encountered and would be interested in other members experiences

    1. When using an Apple Mac (running the latest version of Java) it does not give you the option to select the SD Card as the destination. You can only select a folder on the main disk for the computer. This means you need 50gb of free space on the computer (25 for the down load and 25 for the unzipped versions of the files) not the 24gb suggested by Audi. Once the download is complete you then need to copy the two folders (Data anf Meta) over to the SD Card in a seperate action
    2. Having finally achieved the above (also found it would not tolerate a 64Gb card formatted as exFat that I had when trying to copy the folders, but fine with a 32Gb card formatted as Fat32 - but this may have been a card issue) I tried to do the update in the car. After detecting the medium it then went through a checking process befroe telling me I had the latest (2018!) version of the maps and no update was available. Strange as the version data the car is showing is a 2019 version, albeit the only data in the car that is actually 2019 is the South East of England section

I am left thinking either I am downloading 2018 maps despite the download window saying 2019 or there is some error in how the car is checking the content of the SD card. I contacted Audi Customer Service about this and they have now said I need to take the car to the dealer to look at it.

Anybody else tried to update their maps using the MyAudi download route rather than the OTA option and did it work?

Managed to download the maps on a Windows PC and they installed fine, including being able to specify the SD Card as the destination volume, so conclude that the problem is with the way Audi has configured the Java app for the Mac environment and that simply copying the downloaded Data and Meta folders to the SD Card misses or corrupts an important file.
