Hi everyone, I’m new to the site and looking for some advice. I recently inherited a 1998 A4 1.9 TDi from my father in law, who told me that the turbo wasn’t working (there doesn’t appear to be any extra power at any point in the Rev range). On closer inspection I discovered that the vacuum pipe to the wastegate actuator didn’t go anywhere, and was vented to atmosphere. I can’t seem to find where to put it.

    Any ideas?

    Rob

Diagram for boost pressure control - engine codes AFN & AHH

    Note:

On vehicles manufactured up to 7/97 the Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor is integral with the engine control unit, from 8/97 the intake manifold pressure sender is combined with the intake manifold temperature sender (called the "Thrust sensor) and is located on air duct pipe from charge air cooler to intake pipe.

    1. Air duct pipe, rear Boost air cooler/intake pipe. Up to 07/97 with pressure connection for intake manifold pressure sender
    2. From exhaust gas re-circulation valve
    3. Control unit for diesel direct injection system, up to 7/97 with intake manifold pressure
    4. Vacuum connection for air conditioner, blanking cap on vehicles without air conditioner
    5. Brake servo connection
    6. Vacuum pump
    7. Turbo vane actuator
    8. Vacuum hose to vacuum reservoir
    9. Vent line from N75 solenoid to air cleaner.
    10. Boost pressure control solenoid valve -N75
    11. Vacuum reservoir
    12. Vacuum hose from N75 to vacuum unit for boost pressure control
    13. Vacuum hose from N75 to non-return valve
    14. Non-return valve. White side to N75/vacuum reservoir.
    15. Vent line to air cleaner
    16. Vent line to EGR valve

Crashed, thank you so much for this. After a lot of fiddling and cursing the hose has been connected and now the car has boost!
So love the way this Audi drives that I’ve just gone out and bought a 58 plate A4 S-line 2l TDi estate
