I had a strange thing happen yesterday. When I opened the driver's door, the lights-on alarm sounded. If I closed the door it stopped. So, I checked the light switch and the lights were off. Today is is back to normal. Any idea what might have happenned?

Maybe the microswitch in the drivers door lock is playing up, the door lock mechanism, which is half mechanical and half electrical with switches gets clogged up with dirt and grime over time causing the swiches to stick, some of the microswitches are nano - very tiny and delicate.

This didn't happen for a while but then happened today. When I was walking back to the car I noticed one side light and one tail light on which looks like a parking light feature. I suspect that was the cause last time too but as I hadn't got out of the car at that stage to check I can't be sure.

I think if you leave the indicator stalk in the left or right turn positions you get parking lights on that side of the car? Might just be that? It's been a long time since I owned a C5, though, so I might be getting things muddled
