hi im new to the forum so please bare with me and sorry if this post has already been created

i've brought a 56 plate mk5 golf gt tdi as a none runner fix it upper

so i got the car and unplugged each injector till it started and it would start with number 3 plugged in, so i sent it off for a recon they phoned me up and said that the body was f**ked and that it would give a error code of "short to ground" which it did, so they had a 2nd body and replaced everything else. so i popped in it and it started but took a while etc etc left it 24 hours and took a while to start again and it did again n again every time i left it to go cold but once started and warmed up a little it started first time every time without fail.
so i was told its struggling to start when cold because the injector needs coding so i borrowed a free copy of vcds of my mate and it wouldn't give me a option to code the injector but if gave my a option to reset the values so vcds said it had to be reset to 0 etc i did, again could get started, tried priming the fuel pump through vcds, never worked so ended up using WD40 got it started again ( i know that a big no no ) and so i found someone on ebay that said they can code the injector.................... guess what £50 later he cant code but reset the value to 0 told him already done that etc so checked the following

timing, dpf, egr, injector fueling, injector timing and everything is in time apart from the dpf which was 79 which max should be 60 so dpf is blocked, so we said basically the car need t be driven to unblock it and mate everything would settle down and correct it self but as i was driven and old revs on to do a dpf gen the car cut out and wont start again right after the coolant fan kicked it

please if anyone can help me or come and look at it for a small fee and will be very grateful p.s i've asked on fb pages and no replyies

it as if the fuel is struggling but im not too sure and stress out cant find anything on the net

The BMN is notorious for injector problems, they were part of a now expired "cam pain" by VW to upgrade them, according to VW and the injector manufacturer Siemens, it is not possible to recondition these units and most companies that do recon injectors won't touch them. They DO NOT have to be coded, that is on a Common Rail not a PD BUT their rocker arm stroke setting must be checked. Were any fault codes stored?

mate thank you so much for the reply, so ive had number 3 recon but sold me a 2nd hand body the recon was just seals i think, but any how the fault codes were

short to ground injector 3 p2146
motronic engine control module power supply replay : electrical in circuit short to ground p1517

these cleared after recon inject was put it but then i got a intermittent fault with injector 3 and glow plug 3 so changed the hardness and it was difficalt to start when cold but i ran it up to do a dpf gen clean as its blocked and it then cut out after the fan kicked in and wont start again unless i use wd40, i know its a big no no but lest i know it starts, its asif its starin of fuel

thanks again great full of all help

So what fault codes are you getting now? We simply will not fit none genuine exchnage injectors from VAG so we know they are correct and if one fails again with two years, you give the car and the receipt to the dealer and they sort it out. How much did you pay for the recon injector?

hi crasher sorry for the long long reply my mate had his vagcom back but ive brought my own now but anyways today 16.5.19 i done my timing belt as it was out of spec and it started up easier

but i left it rung till the fan kicked in and it cut out and would start, but when it was cold it started after some cranking and cut out again after a split sec

but ive done a vagcom scan and its cam up with camshaft sensor etc but i checked my timing and my locking tools fellow right into place so what can be round now? im thinking i need it remapped now for the hot start now
