Another 45 years would have put them where Mazda are with it, stuck at an emissions dead end because all that matters in this world is Co2.
That's all in the past. All that matters now is apparently NOx and particles.

Look at it this way, if not for them, the 90s diesel revolution was never gonna happen and we would not have had these wonderful direct injection forced induction diesel engines running around today.

These yoofs weren't born in the 90's, many weren't even born in the early 2000's

The bearing bracket started to fail on my 2.5 Tdi BDG. I removed the bracket, pressed out the bearing, and it turns out it's a FAG waterpump bearing WS2263. FAG no longer makes those bearings, however, what I did was to buy a similar bearing and chop off a small piece of the shaft to match the original bearing, all really easy to be fair.

    Total cost about £40.

Could not agree more with this and I did something similar with the aircon compressor pully - although exact replacement bearing was available.
You don't mess around with this job - go to Crasher or (wash my mouth out!) a proper Audi Dealer and get the job done properly. You will be most unlucky if the fan bearing on the bracket is shot. Recently did my 228k AKE and it was fine.
If you can get a list of all the part nos required and go to ******* etc on-line and buy REPUTABLE OEM parts (don't listen to Crasher on insisting on VAG parts - if your car's resale value is as low as mine!) BUT go for genuine Audi Cambelt Kit AND replace ALL pulleys/tensioners, tstat and water pump. This is where the Audi Dealer will make your eyes water with the cost but CRASHER is a good guy and I am sure he will quote you a fair fitting price for these EXTRAS which are simple to fit. Just ask if he will fit the parts you supply!
Recently had cause (bought a new A4) to talk to Audi Edinburgh and Audi Perth and they wiil still do this sort of job. So cannot believe north England is any different.
So my advice is get it done professionally if you cannot do it yourself. Crasher's quote of two day job is spot on - for a novice like me, first time I did it it took me 2 weeks! Was quicker the second time - only 1 week!

Since when? I am very pragmatic about parts sourcing, if I can find the same part as genuine made by the OE supplier to VAG then I will use that instead of genuine almost without exception.

    CRASHER - I stand corrected!
