Apple carplay installed on non Audi registered Carplay cars

After the disappointment that Audi could not update my MMI to carplay functionality even when they originally said they could, I thought I was doomed with the stock Audi MMI interface.

Well fellow Q owners I can confirm if you are on MMI version 0976, Apple carplay can be added to your car. If like me your car was a little early to come preinstalled with it. Andy also did this mod for me and it works brilliantly, so now I have Apple carplay up and running even though Audi said my car could not be updated to carplay!

Audi Smartphone Interface is licensed under VAG's Software as a Product / SWaP system and requires a suitable Feature Enablement Code to be added to the vehicle. This can not be done with ODBEleven or VCDS alone.

Great news when next the vehicle has an official mmi update it bricks the 5f boooom £3500 fix, even more fun for those choosing to use the mmi map update cheat same thing booom unit failure from factory svm. Be very carefull what you change to 5f units.
