At my wits end..... I have a 2004 1.9tdi a4 sport , 110000 miles With a very intermittent starting issue so far I have change fuel/temp sensor , fuel
Filter, gasket on tandem pump and checked the timing and still no joy as to fixing the problem , I have left the car to mechanic and electrician to try to help detect the problem both of which couldn’t get the car to misbehave after 2 weeks I collected it drove it home came out the next morning and boom hard to start ,....... once the key is in the ignition it will turn over and you’d think it is going to start then it misses amd winds over for a minute and eventually starts but struggles like it’s building fuel pressure Once it starts it will start perfect all day unless you leave it sitting over night very frustrating as the car drives perfect engine is smooth with no smoke and loads of power very economical, any help appreciated 😁

Sounds like the fuel pressure is doing back over night. I'd check the tandem pump gasket and also the fuel filter is sealed properly.

    Also it would
Seem if the car is left stationary it will start fine the next morning hence why mechanic and auto spark could t get fault to re occur they both left the car in there work shop starting every Morning but not moving it and it didn’t fail, but once I picked it up amd drove it for over an hour to my house parked overnight then it struggles to start it’s really strange
