So, Ross-Tech is now taking away posts? Wow....

Roughly speaking the auto reset doesn't work correctly so you have to do it manually such as on the example below, I am not sure how this will come out but if you save the sri scan as it comes it looks like this

I just don't use the auto function as it won't get it right in my experience. I wish I could show you what happens.
It certainly has been and it continues to be quite the challenge to do the automatic service reminder resets since the introduction of the UDS protocol by VAG. We continue to work on it for improvement. Do remember, Ross-Tech did not complicate all of this. VAG did.

Oh, and the big box tools that can do a one button reset? Go check how many of them actually get it correct on these newer VAG models.

Correct me if I am wrong, but ODIS, the factory tool, also does not do a single click Service Reset... one has to deal with all the adaptation channels - right?

No slapped down as in dismissed as being wrong..... it's an expression and I am never wrong, everyone knows that...

I never use ODIS for this, just VCDS but what I do and have taught my chaps to do is look at the display in the dash or MMI as appropriate and set the values where you want them remembering the oddity that the cars saying oil change and VCDS does that in inspection and inspection is service, or something like that. I was supposed to have an A8 in for a service tomorrow but he has moved it so I haven't got one available to show the way it works, I will do as soon as I can. We tend to tailor the inspection values to match the next oil chnage point when just doing an oil change so the two coincide and I am VERY reluctant to set cars on long life, I have to get really bullied by a customer to set the longlife interval, it ruins engines.

Sort of off topic, have you considered updating your wiki code list? It is lacking quite a lot of codes and I find it useful for quickly looking things up when people ask me a question with a code I can't remember off the top of my head, I can quite a lot of them which is a bit sad....

Yes... time is always the issue... Do we spend our time helping customers or do we take our techs away from the customers and put them on Wiki content... constant battle here. We have added staff and still we never seem to keep up with demand. The more we do, the more people like what we do, the more service we need to give. A very nice problem to have but we know we are not meeting the demand. (Example: what are we going to do with ADAS - all those sensors that need troubleshooting and aligning... )

And then there is the issue of where does one find the cream of the cream? To make this product and the information behind it what it is, one has to have the very best. I have the privilege (and I get all misty eyed when I get to write such being the blubbering bear I am) of working with the finest people with whom I have had the privilege of working in all of my 44 years of my career. They bust their bunns everyday because they love these cars and they love helping others. Jef produces videos. Peter documents all kinds of control modules in background form so his team can better serve. Dana is constantly searching those crazy tweaks people want and finding ways to make them happen. NONE of this is done on the clock. Eric, Shaun and Yanping work tirelessly and crazy hours trying to keep up with all the changes VAG is doing in the cars - trying to keep VCDS at its best. And the rest of the team? We are just trying to help customers connect and know what we are doing.

Do we fail? Yep. Everyday we go home feeling we have not done enough. And yet we hear from our user community how important the work we do is to them. Oh that we could have unlimited resources and VAG's support. Might you imagine what we could accomplish?

I'll get off my soapbox... Crasher, thanks for being a long supporter of what we do. Bear with us in those moments when our Germanness comes out and our need to be "Right" is put to the front. We too are never wrong (- unless of course your nickname is dabear... every notice my caricature has a black eye? )

39 years on the clock for me and I am exhausted, driving aids, electric cars and self driving all scare the crap out of me so I am glad I will be retired by then because I am not working on high voltage systems, if it ain't burning petrol it ain't burning me to a crisp! We farm the setup of ADAS systems out, many wheel alignment companies are now starting to do this.

In US, all are scrambling to figure out what they will do with ADAS. We may work with one of our partners who is building ADAS targets and such. They are working a complete solution that does not cost as some of the current solutions cost. VCDS supports all the adaptations and such but without all the targets and without a real knowledge of what to do when the script fails, we are not going to promote doing ADAS. Super hot topic at the trade events all around the world. Collision guys are going nuts over this - "We have to do what?!!!" They face a whole new class of headaches.
