Hi everyone. Ive tried looking through the stickys but can't find an answer to my question so sorry if this has been answered omewhere.
My os epb failed and stuck on on my b6 while i was out and about, i managed to disconnect the motor and wind in the brake manually so i could get home where ive taken the calliper off waiting for a replacement to arrive.
My question is that i have vcds and am familiar with the change pad procedure but not if im replacing the entire calliper. Is it the same as just winding the callipers into service mode and then back after working on them.
    Many thanks

Yes but take great care, it is easy to fry the early controllers.

Ive read that operating only one epb at a time ( which i have done) can fry them? If this is the case what will the symptom be and how hard is it to recode another one. Many thanks for your reply

There's an awful lot of content regarding this within the first 10 pages of the Passat B6 forum which should answer most of your questions.

When you go in with VCDS it gets very jumpy if things do not go well, redolent of early air bag ECU issues 20 years ago. I have avoided any issues with 3C ebrake calipers by only using genuine TRW exchange calipers, NEVER skimp on quality as it will turn around and bite you where it hurts.

Ok ive found some very helpful threads in this but i think ive got a problem that i cant find an answer for.
Ive removed the motor from the calliper and the motor spline is 12 point and the calliper female is 6 point. Im assuming the previous owner has bodged the wrong motor onto the calliper. The eletrical point on the broken motor also has a nodule on it which locked the connection onto it so i had to force it off.
Im confused as to whether my caliper or motor is wrong for my car. What should i have 12 or 6 point? My passat id a 2.0 sport 06. Many thanks

The caliper comes with the motor, the motor is available as a separate part but these cost more than a full exchange caliper from TRW, the OE manufacturer of the caliper, so the VW dealer is no help here.
