I replaced my front pads and discs last week for trw Gdb1550 ones (which I bought as I thought they were close to OEM and have had good results from trw over pagid and textar.
Anyway did 300/400 miles last week then had mot and all fine, car had one advisory on a lower Bush.
We drove 150 miles on holiday and I’ve noticed every time I go over a bump there is a fairly audible rattle, and if I brake it stops.
I took the wheel off and checked everything, the bushes all look ok and indeed a little perished but nothing that looks like it’s worn enough for the rattle I’m getting! The calliper is on tight with the guides and I fitted new spring retainers!
I’m really flummoxed as the passenger side is ok I’ve seen a few mentions of pad rattle is this possible? Is there any way I can test - a wedge between the pad guides and pad then do a short run???

I have had this a few times now, the caller carriers wear and the pads start to kick about. I have even known people to weld a blob into the pad groove and file it to match. Possibly excessive salt and environmentally friendly cast iron and surface treatments?

Thanks for the reply! To be honest I did hit the guides quite hard with the wire wheel and was wondering if that was a bad move, it was rusty and ironically I assumed it could prevent them from sliding smoothly!
    What a pita!

Well good news it turned out to be an easy fix (for now!?) on the inboard pad the 3 leg retaining clip had 2 bent legs once I straightened these out and exaggerated the bend to provide more retention all is perfect! Can’t believe one loose pad was making such a loud noise!
