    Hi

Currently have VW Tiguan R line with RNS510 but it doesn't have the module for the "full link" to use Android auto or apple car play. VW have said it cannot be installed retrospectively and needed to be done when ordered.

    Couple of quesrions.

    1. Can I install it myself by buying bits. I have vagcom if that helps.
    2. Is the dealership talking tosh
3 would it be best to get done at a specialist.
    4. Has anyone else had this issue.

    Thanks

RNS510 is not able to use Android Auto or Apple Carplay. It wasn't possible to order when built, it's a function which doesn't exist in the RNS510

Most likely all they're doing is working on importing a bunch of Android Auto/ Apple Carplay function boxes coupled with a reverse camera type interface box to generate the on screen App display. It's not anything which will add Android Auto to the RNS510 as such, but (rather like the DAB radio add on systems) will use aftermarket hardware to interface with the units display. These boxes are already available if you know where to look, and as they say in the comments it's not gonna be cheap.

I'd start with Google... First search, first result when I tried it.
