It's a 2009 A4, 90k miles. The engine management light kept coming on for a few days and then going off for a few days but now seems to be on all the time.
The engine seems to run the same whether light is on or not.
My scanner says it's a P2015 error, inlet manifold. I've found the vacuum device that works the flaps in the manifold but when I operate it manually the light still stays on. I'm wondering if there is a sensor on the flaps shaft.

I'm preparing myself to fork out for a new manifold as the MOT is in a few weeks and I'm told that an engine management light is an instant failure.

    regards,

    Richard Sharp

Yes you will need the intake manifold repair set, it is VIN specific but around £430 for the main parts.

Thanks for the advice and the Auden quote.
I would like to understand more about the failure and why the whole assembly has to be replaced. The only moving part seems to be the shaft with the flaps. Is there something in the manifold injection moulding that can't be replaced or repaired ?

I am wary about tackling this job myself as when work is done in this area my maintenance manual says that recalibration is necessary.

    regards,
    Richard Sharp

It fails due to wear of poor standard materials, it is not a problem unique to VAG, BMW have had terrible problems with manifold flaps.

This company do a delete kit for various engines.

You will need your engine code to see if there is one suitable.

You've convinced me that I will have to get my local Audi specialist to change the manifold and do the MOT.

However, I still feel that if I had the thing on the bench I would have a good go at fixing it as I used to repair electro mechanical systems for a living. I'm put off by the thought of doing a job like getting it out of the car for the first time (and then putting it back). The computer could get upset.

I've been on my bike this weekend. Really easy things to maintain in comparison to modern cars but the engine (me) is beginning to wear out.

    Best regards
    Richard

I like mending things rather than replacing as well but as I do it for customers I have to know that a repair will be successful and not turn around and bite me PLUS the time taken at £66 an hour does not outweigh the cost of a new assembly, a difficult balance so I tend to err on the side of caution.

Hi there- sorry to drag up an old thread but I thought it's better than starting a new one...!

I'm also about to replace my 1.8tfsi intake manifold (A4, engine code CABB). The car's getting on a bit which means £470 for the part will sting so I can't help but notice various non-OEM parts (e.g. ridex, starck) for similar engines (i.e. year and power output but with different codes) that are less than half the price.

The OEN for my engine is 06H 198 211 A but I can't seem to find any non-OEM manifolds with this number. Does anyone know if other OENs are compatible with my engine?

    Cheers- Adam

Thanks Crasher- unfortunately says "not available" (or "we repair your piece", which sounds a bit threatening tbh!).

Think I have been defeated on this one- looks like I'll have to go OEM.
