    Hi everyone,
I’ve tried searching for this already to no avail so apologies if this has already been asked.
I have a 2016 (66 plate) S-line 272bhp and want to change the air filter as I’ve always found that regular changes give better mpg and some placebo effect extra kick...!

Has anyone done this themselves, and can offer any tips or things to avoid etc? My last car was A6 2.0tdi which was pretty straightforward so looking under the bonnet of the Q7 is a totally different world.

Any help appreciated, and when I’ve done it I’ll post a ‘how to’ with pics etc.

    Many thanks

It is easy. Takes 5 minutes.
1/Open left and right clamp of the engine cover. Clamps are located in front part of this cover on both sides.
2/Remove the engine cover pulling it up from the front side. It has a kind of the handy handle in front side. After removal you will see the air filter.
3/Remove the bolt in the center of the air filter
4/Remove the air filter from the 2 catches located on both sides of removed bolt. Clearly visible. Do it pulling the filter right direction.
5/Install new air filter and the engine cover back in reverse order.
    Done!

Job done - a big thank you to redtom for the instructions. Absolutely bang on.
I took some pictures of the steps but the mobile site won’t let me post them.

The only additional tips I can offer is to use a screwdriver or other lever to help the engine cover clamps off as I think you could break the plastic on the cover easily enough (mine were absolutely solid) and when removing the old filter pull it from the passenger side and don’t be afraid of using a bit of force. Also, it’s a T25 size bolt on the air filter to remove it.

Apart from that it’s pretty easy.

If I can get pictures up I will as you will see just how black the filter is after only 24,000 miles which makes me wonder why the replacement intervals are so far apart.

    Anyway, thanks again.
