Having problems with my heater, most of the time the temp knob does nothing, yesterday it was continually blowing hot air even when set to minimum temp and a/c selected. Today was the opposite, couldn’t get any heat at all even when knob turned fully up. Water temp was at 90 and been driving at least 30 minutes on both occasions.

It is an unusual problem for a Golf 6 but it is a BIG problem on the Golf 7 with the 1.6 and 2 litre CRTDI. Failure of the electric water pump on the 6 is becoming a common issue so firstly, get a code read done on the engine to see if pump 2 is showing as faulty. Has the cam belt been done?
