    Hello All,

    I have a 2006 Golf GTI.

I am looking to see if anyone would know why (anyone had this happen before) or possibly have some solutions for the Airbag warning light that has randomly just come on whilst i was driving on the weekend. I have got a friend to scan my car using VCDS where the below fault code is displayed, I have tried to clear it but it just comes straight back on.

    01588 - Igniter for Head-Airbag; Drivers Side (N251)
001 - Upper Limit Exceeded - MIL ON

Any help on resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated and if anyone knows someone near the Newcastle Upon Tyne area who can fix please let me know.

    Many Thanks in Advance

    Shahid

Hi Shahid, it's possibly a poor connection either on the airbag connector that runs through the top of the D pillar trim or there's another if you follow this wire nearer the bottom of the D pillar. You'll need to remove the header trim to have a proper look.

Hi Stuart, Thanks for responding. I guess the D pillar is the one on the driver side next to windscreen. Is there only the airgbag wire in there or will there be others?
    Thanks

Hi mate, there will be a bundle of wires in there, if I remember rightly the air bag connector should be yellow. It was in my 2006 GT and both car should be the same.

Thanks Stuart, I will give this a try on the weekend, hoping its a loose wire which i can just push back into the connector.
