Hi, I have now had 2 instances were my car will not start because the engine management message comes up, this happens twice and then the car will start ans runs ok.

The fault codes I have found are 09754 & 00022, does anyone know what these are. I suspect the 09754 is the aux water pump but not 100% sure.

    Thanks

Yes 09754 relates to the secondary electric water pump on the lower passenger side of the engine compartment and is a frequent issue on Common Rail Tdi engines. The other code can relate to the camshaft position sensor BUT the specific 'P' code that goes with such has not been divulged which suggests an inferior scan tool. A more accurate VCDS scan would provide more information. Also to note is that depending on what additional information is stored against the 09754 code, it is possible that one fault if electrical in nature such as short to ground, short to plus etc., will throw a bogus code for another sensor on the same loom.

    Thanks for your reply

What are these auxiliary pumps for, are they used for the heating loop and are the pumps easy to replace?

    Thanks

Not had the pleasure of changing one as yet but looks straight forward from what I have seen but some have said it is a little awkward. Hopefully someone else who has done the job will chip in (I have a PD engine which doesn't have one).

Jak68, I have attached images on my dropbox on how to replace electric coolant pump. It's located underneath the oil cooler, has two coolant pipes, electric plug and a bolt that holds it in place. Will have to do it by going underneath the car so will need to be raised. You'll need a decent set of tools to make the job easier. It does look fiddly due to lack of space.
