Picked up a moon miler that I just need to run for a few months while between company cars and the temp gauge mainly stays at minimum; I have seen it wander a bit up to 70 and down again. I’m happy to try a new sensor in it but I’m wondering how ‘safe’ I am driving it in the meantime. There’s good heat from the matrix. If the engine started to overheat would I get a dash warning before all hell broke loose?

Car was plugged in briefly to read errors (not sure what system it was plugged into tho) and it didn’t show an error for the temp sensor.

It DID show an error on glow plugs 2&3 and an ABS sensor error but there’s nothing on the dash and the little ‘check’ button does it’s thing without any warnings

Any advice? Anything to worry about?

Hi , don’t know if you’ve solved your problem but I had a similar thing on mine. Got my garage to change thermostat and now reaches 90 & stays there.

Generally, ignore the accuracy of the dash temp gauge, it is laughable.

I have seen them show 90 when the measuring block says 77 and still say 90 when the measuring block says 117!
