    Hi All
    I now have a A3 1.8T Quattro 2002 covered 105,000 miles engine code ARY

Normal driving round town/commuting to work no problem.

After a bit of spirited driving when I come to a stop I notice a fuel odour and when opening the fuel filler flap petrol appears to becoming out of the filler cap (even though it is shut, approx 3 clicks) if I remove the fuel filler cap fuel spurts out of the filler pipe!!

Leave the car for an hour or 2 open the filler cap and there is a big rush of air but no fuel!!

The engine as has had a recent cambelt change and engine service ( I didn't change the fuel filter)

It still runs the Charcoal (carbon) canister. I have disconnected the charcoal canister by the fuel pipes (the middle of the 3 connectors, next to the coolant expansion tank) I then got DTC P0340 reconnecting the connecter and DTC P0340 cleared and did not return
I have read somewhere about removing the charcoal canister and something about a faulty return (purge valve) (lost the link now) and after ages of searching can not find the info any / all help is greatly received

    Thanks all

    Hi All,

After doing some more reading I have discovered it may be the EVAP Purge Valve? (is this related to the charcoal canister?)

Can anyone help with the location and part number of this please and how hard is it to replace?

The other thing I read was 'tank vent valve solenoid in the engine bay is stuck open' is this applicable to a A3?

    Thanks
