    Hi there,

I have been looking but cannot find the answer to my query.

I have the standard speaker system in the Q7 which also has analogic tv tuner (no-longer useful as we are in digital).

If I were to buy used original Audi Bose door speakers. Can I just replace them directly as the connectors and size speaker are the same?

    thanks,
    R

    Hey R,

While I can't talk specifically for the Q7 platform having not bought mine yet, the Bose system is much more than just speakers. You will also need the amplifier, the sub woofer, and are also likely to need to reprogram the head unit with VCDS (there may be another way but I know VCDS works). All the speakers would need to be replaced and I have no idea if the wiring loom is already installed (i.e. for but not with) in the boot to connect amp and woofer. There may also be other hidden elements I don't know about.

This is actually quite an undertaking to retrofit Bose and scanning this forum on other models will reveal some more threads. Sound of course is both subjective and personal however I normally mandate the Bose system already fitted when I buy the car however if it wasn't fitted I wouldn't bother. For that much cash (circa £2k installed on my A6 C5 - straight quote from a 10 minute google search) I would go aftermarket so rip everything out and start again. That much money in the aftermarket world will get you a system at least as good as Bose if not better although we are now firmly in the subjective world where only you can make the final decision.

My A6 has Bose but some of the speakers are blown and it sounds really harsh. I'm going to replace this later this year so I'm not worried about it. It does however offer much more bass than non-Bose systems and is of much superior quality. Finally, a word of warning when buying older Bose speakers, like mine, they may be blown!!!

    Hope all this helps...
