Hey guys! Long story short, my beloved 520d died not long ago leaving me stranded for over 2 months now. I went and bought a cheap daily runner whilst on a lookout for another car, this time I wanted to stay far away from modern diesel engines as these have proved to be the worst in terms of reliability (talking about BMW here). My cars were always maintained at BMW and anything / everything replaced as and when necessary, yet they still broke down - my BMW started to collapse, it was like cancer slowly eating it and left me so sad: first an oil leak, then rail pressure, then low fuel pump, then high fuel pump, then regulators, then engine rod bearing and bye-bye.

So... I've owned a 2008 A6 Allroad 3.0 V6 TDi and loved it! Sold it because we were buying a property so needed the extra funds. Now I'm after a petrol V6. I've looked and searched far in the country but found nothing close to my budget. The ones I found were from 2008 / 110k going for £9k.

A friend of mine told me to look overseas, specifically Japan. I ended up buying one from Japan and it's currently on its way here. It is a 2008 model, a revised 2.8 V6 in white (S-Line) with 85k miles and has all available extras such as, xenon plus lights, keyless entry, blinds, bose system, air suspension, camera, nav, Bluetooth and so on. Basically I couldn't find the same spec in the UK!

I didn't want a turbo engine as I lost my faith in anything with a turbo and wanted to keep it N/A. How good is the 2.8 and has anyone owned a C6 2.8 here?

Question: I am being told that I'll have to fit a right hand side (rear) fog lights. How difficult is this?

My C5 was the 2.8 quattro. Great engine which i got rid of eventually as I was doing too many miles. It was at 170k at the time. You might get lucky with the fog light as there is a chance the light is there but no bulb fitted. Alternatively you could probably pick up a rear lamp cluster and fit that instead.
Current- A6 C8 40 tdi quattro s line Daytona Grey
    Gone-S3 sportback, A6 C7 biturbo saloon,A4 B 8.5 avant, A6 C6 3.0 tdi Quattro saloon, A6 C5 2.8 Q Avant

I'm very excited to get my hands on the car. It looks so beautiful! There are three things on my to do list: fog lights (hopefully this is an easy DIY), replace the speedo from KMH to MPH (I hope someone can help me out in the UK) and fit a different MMI hardware as it's a Japanese unit so everything is in Japanese.
