Is the problem with the TIPTRONIC gearboxes/clutches/system with low speed judder and snatching (in my case) ever been officially reported to AUDI? Did they say anything?

It seems to be a very common problem on the internet?

I was in the middle of typing an email to AUDI when I gave up. They are not going to be interested in my problems in a 15 year old car with 120k on the clock?

Just wondered if they had said anything about it? Is it officially acknowledged as a problem?

If it was 5 years old they would not be interested. Which version do you have?

The car is 2003 Avant Estate Auto / 2.4 ltr V6 petrol.

I don't have any info on the gearbox/clutch/Tiptronic.

It is such a shame because it is still a lovely car to drive. I have a suspicion that there is a vibration coming into play over 80 but I rarely get a chance to do that so it isn't much of concern at the moment. The car is at an age where I'm fairly certain I will be its last owner but I like to keep on top of the faults if I can.

It is a Multitronic (AKA Multichronic), not a “Tiptronic”, a CVT or Continuously Variable Transmission, the type 01J and version code GHT. If you search on this forum you will find hundreds maybe thousands of posts about this disasterous system made by ZF for Audi, it was a complete joke all through its production. Four years ago I bought a clean average mileage pre facelift 2009 S Line 2L TDI A6 type 4F for £350 with a completely failed 01J and rebuilt the box, sold the car and barely broke even. An exchange unit is still available from Audi for £6183.89, plus installation.......

Going by Crasher's diagnosis you have 3 options. Sell the car on, repair/replace the box or drive the car until the box fails completely.
I've also had dealings with a multitronic box, the last iteration I believe, it wont be happening again.

I don't think I will be going for the exchange unit. There were no buyers for the car @ £1000 before it was gifted to me.

Thanks for the help, research and information. Much appreciated.
