The rear wiper motor has stopped working.

To begin with it would start working 10 mins or so after I switched it on.
I'm sure that sometimes it activated without my touching it.
It would occasionally stop with the blade in an upright position but this would reset when I next turned the ignitio on.

My question is, is there a separate controller for the wiper or is it all built into the wiper?

Is there anything repairable in these things?

This is a fairly common problem, the controller is built into the motor, the washer pipe leaks and the controller gets wet then you get these sort of problems. ISTR there was a repair kit for the washer pipe, but if the board has got wet and is playing up you may beyond that point (even if the repair kit is still available).

At the end of the day there is nothing to be lost by removing it and taking a look, but I suspect the only fix is a complete replacement (or just unplug it as I did with mine when it started going off by itself - I drive vans with solid bulkheads so the lack of the rear wiper doesn't bother me in the slightest!)
