Hi would anyone have any idea why I have a little grinding noise when setting off in first and reverse but no other gear

It only happens on a slight hill start and with a little rev. I can drive off normally without it happening

I’ve just put in a new dmf and concentric release bearing

    It’s an 08 golf 2.0 Tdi 6 speed

Going to check engine mounts tomorrow but if anyone has any thoughts please let me know

    Many thanks

I should add the noise is very quick approx half a second and is altered by the revs and speed of clutch release

Did you use all new gearbox mounting bolts?

Yes new bolts used, although I should add the noise description of grinding maybe isnt the most accurate. Its more like if you say "errrr" in as high a pitch as you can.

Although interestingly I just found a similar old thread on here (see link below) where a poster says the dealer thinks its turbo stall when setting off. So I took the car for a drive and went above my normal driving style. Over 3000 rpm in 4th gear going up a hill it went into a no warning light limp mode. Vcds check - overboost. Ive seen this exact fault before and previously had to replace that turbo because of metal fatigue in the turbo blades. Ill take the turbo off this one and have a look but is it really possible this could be responsible for the noise? It doesnt seem like the turbo could make this noise but then a Vw tech would know a lot more than I would. Any thoughts or previous experience appreciated.

Take the turbo off and have it rebuilt locally.

This problem was sorted - Im guessing it flywheel noise on a new DMF but if not it was something do to with the clutch kit. Replacement kit fixed it.
