Hi all,

Another question related to high oil consumption of the 2.0 TFSI cdnc engine or similar variant, my 09 a4 S line 208 BHP engine coming up for 124K runs well & adding 0.5 litre of oil approx every 600 miles isn't the end of the world.

After reading the numerous posts on oil consumption & related remedies I question why are the con rods replaced at engine rebuild stage as the issue seems to be Piston Ring & Bore issue? If big & little ends of rod comply tolerance wise what's the benefit of replacement? Would a rebore & new pistons be sufficient using existing conrods?
