    Hi,

posted this in the Passat section but this section is probably more apt:

newbie to the forum looking for some advice regarding Ecu compatibility.
My B7 1.6 tdi estate is currently in the vw dealers needing a new Ecu.

Have been quoted £1500 for a new one but I am trying to source a replacement first.
Initially tried ecutesting but they informed me that my ecu was of a type they couldn’t repair.

I have found an ecu on eBay with the exact part number but from a caddy.
so long as the part number is correct will this be compatible with my car?

or compatible enough for the dealer to configure it to my car using their diagnostic tools.

    Thanks,

    graeme.

From your VIN, ETKA FI Suggestion shows me the ECU your car was built with is 03L 906 023 FS and this was only used in the 2011>2015 Passat with CAYC engines with certain Pr codes. 03L 907 425 C is not a recognised part number and 5WP42902 AA is incomplete. Interestingly it states that a vibration damper 03L 130 118 must be fitted, something tells me that’s a known issue

Thanks for your help. I have since found one on ebay that has the same part numbers and came from a passat 1.6 diesel.
Hopefully this works and saves me more than £1000 extra it would have cost for a brand new one.

I will post how I got on....
