Hi everyone. This appears to be a common issue but its doing my nut in! I have a 2008 Avant 1.9TDi. The rear wiper was playing up. Not coming and such. So I took it all to bits as it was seized up. The tube had corroded in the unit water in (not the best design!) Anyway, took it all to bits, cleaned it up shiny new, put a little grease back on the gears and put it back together. Plugged it back in a whey hey working wiper! Trouble is now it won't switch off!!! No matter the position of the stork its is constantly on intermittent. So now as a result I have had to unplug it at the motor. Has anyone else had this problem? I see a few folk have issues with this wiper and a good clean out does the trick! Alas not for me!! haha!!

    Cheers

    Matty

Common isn’t the word, look at any A3 type 8P or A4/6 avant and almost invariably the rear wiper motor will be faulty

I had this same problem, water gets in to the small circuit board located on the outside of the casing near where it plugs in to the connector. I opened that up and board was all corroded so cleaned up put back together and covered in vaseline to try and stop water/moisture getting back in. Was fine for about a month then went again, had a mind of it's own. Ended up buying unbranded new replacement from auction site... problem sorted, for now anyhow
