I've had multiple warnings and failures of my near-side rear lights. First the reversing light; then the fog and two days ago the brake.

Upon removing the cluster, I found a fair bit of water in the unit and a degree of corrosion, on both the plug and socket, plus the bulb connectors (where they connect to the bulb-holder housing)

All the bulbs are fine and a bit of emery paper, plus a bit of wiggling, soon had the fog-light operational again.

However the reversing light refuses to spark back to life, so I suspect the corroded connector is at fault. The brake light is intermittent.

Would this be covered under warranty? Anybody with an Audi connection know?

I can probably get another unit easily enough but I'm not sure I want to go through a re-wiring exercise, for the female plug.

This is also something similar I saw on a headlight unit on my partner's previous - 2005 - Golf. Unfortunately she took it into the garage before I had a chance to look at it and promptly got ripped off £200 for a new headlamp unit, when all that was required was a bit of wire-wool and emery-paper on that bulb-holder.

I’ve got both rear clusters brand new in their box from when I picked up my SQ7 a little over a year ago and opted for the smoked rear lights, just in case you may need to replace them!

We replace the terminals in the plug with gold plated versions to try and reduce contact resistance heat damage, cleaning the contacts with emery cloth is frowned upon these days as it reduces contact pressure and leaves the surface rough which increases resistance and susceptibility to corrosion, all new terminals are highly polished.
