My TT had a new clutch and flywheel about 12000 miles ago, the previous owner tells me since then the pedal is very close to floor to disengage. It drives great, has a nice clutch action and does clear fine but it is virtually on the floor to do so.

There is quite a lot of free play at the pedal before it even starts to push the master cylinder rod. How much free play should there be?

I can see the pedal fitment move along the pushrod before it then starts pushing it and have checked the pushrod is fully out, it does not pull back any more so it is not sticking in the master cylinder.

No signs of fluid leak at either end.

It does not feel spongy in any way but I will bleed the system well with new fluid, am I correct in that the fluid is shared with the brakes..so top that one up as I bleed.

Did it have a new real bearing fitted? It would be worthwhile having the hydraulic system bled.
