Yeah. Just really odd it’s the same wiring loom. Didn’t have the issue before today, cleaned EGR now have the issue

If I remove the cable from the HPFP the ticking complete goes away

Yes that is because the valve isn't operating as normal, wonder if the problem is electronic related and not mechanic

And now you have at least two fault codes stored in the ECU that are nothing to do with the problem and will slow down proper diagnosis.

I have the exact same problem with my 2009 mk6 golf 2.0tdi I only got to test drive it in a car park and didn’t think to let the window down, the noise issnt audible at idle just when I drive, as described pull that plug on pump noise is gone but flashing glow plug and had to delete the codes after doing that, has anyone solved it yet without spending a fortune on it.
Local mechanic said they all sound that way with these engines

If you have a fault code you have to deal with it, there is no quick easy fix.

There’s no codes. I only got them when I unplugged the wire to see if it went away, I guess I’ll have to live with it for till it leaves codes

I noticed my car has had its timing belt done could it be the timing of the pump that’s out making that valve noisy?

The CR TDI high pressure fuel pump is not timed.

Thanks for ur reply crasher I only asked about timing because I’d just watched a engine code CBDC timing belt change video on YouTube and the guy locked the pump pulley on that one. It can buzz away like others have said they are just gonna live with it I guess thanks again

Yes you pin the pulley to stabilise the tension between the cam and pump pulleys so you set the tension between the crank and the cams, not in the complete system.
