You should not talk about this on an open forum, what you and he have done is an environmental crime and nothing to be talked about.....

As far as I can see doing a search, the Road vehicle (Construction and use) regulations states:

"Although it is not illegal to remove the EGR from your vehicle, it is an offence under the Road vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations (Regulation 61a(3))1 to use a vehicle which has been modified in such a way that it no longer complies with the air pollutant emissions standards it was designed to meet. Removal of the EGR will almost invariably contravene these requirements.

The potential penalties for failing to comply with Regulation 61a are fines of up to £1,000 for a car or £2,500 for a light goods vehicle. "

I am building a Golf 2 for a customer and I am retro fitting fuel tank vapour recovery and a Euro 5 specification metal catalyst with post cat monitoring and the ability to use Ethanol fuel right upto E85 when it is available. The only sad point is that although it will conform to at least EU4 standards I have no sensible way of getting it tested and recognised as such.
