So, called my local VW garage to get a quote for an ABS pump for the golf, over £1000 was the eventual reply. I asked what the part number was and was told " sorry we don't give out part numbers, company policy"

Eh ? is this for real ?

suppose i shouldn't have expected any better !

managed to squeeze a hand down the side of the battery tray and wipe off a layer of crud to reveal my part number ! luckily a guy was breaking a twin of my car nearby so have just picked up a much shinier looking ABS pump. Worth a punt for £25 and at least I'll have a spare to get re manufactured if needs be and can still keep mobile.

If you are getting a G201 pressure sensor failure and ESP light, there is a repair kit for about a third of the cost of a new pump.
