Took mine into the workshop yesterday. Said they can't comment on the article I saw and need to diagnose each car in case it is a different cause, but after checking it out they confirmed there is a problem, but don't have a fix yet so have an open job sitting with the warranty department.

Hopefully they hurry up and get a solution. I imagine as pressure builds from the different brands they will want to get a fix out quickly before it starts harming sales.

Think it might have already harmed this sale as the VAG response has certainly put me off the 1.5 TSI. Just have to consider whether to go for the diesel or another brand.

Yes, and you will get something a bit more interesting.
Little bit Fordish, but its not like Ford is a bad car.

If I was in the market for a new motor I would have to buy British or I would feel really bad, especially considering JLR's current status.

If a British manufacturer produced a low CO2 estate around 4.5-4.7m it would be on the list.

Took delivery of new Passat Estate SE Business 1.5 TSI DSG after 4 years with Golf Mk7 2.0 TDI DSG.

Delighted with new Passat. Was fed up with the coarseness of the TDI and even the diesel torque didn't compensate. TSI is quiet, smooth and works well with the 7 speed DSG.

Followed on line advice about running in, got it to temperature and then drove is variably with a range of revs and gears.

After 1000 mile it is already managing 42 mpg on current fill and 38 mpg since purchase.

Makes such a change from the Golf.

Have already changed the Primacy tyres to Cross Climates that worked well on the Golf and were hard wearing.

Is that due to environmental concerns or tax benefits?

Many thanks for this. Confirms the benefits of the TSI but still a bit concerned about the cold running issue which seems to be a manual issue that doesnt affect DSG.
