Hi guys am looking at buying a mk5 gti manual ( would have loved dsg but have heard a lot of bad stories about them).

So far I am thinking 2-3 owners.

And the ones I am looking at have 100-120k miles.

I have no experience buying a used car.

Any tips on what to look out for?

    Thanks

Hi mate so the mk5 dsg is pretty good in comparison to the mk6?

I assumed because the engine of mk6 is based on or the same as the mk5 it would be a similar situation to the dsg on the mk6.

The wet clutch DSG AKA DQ250 series is very reliable in all cars it is fitted to.

If you haven’t already done so - suggest you look at mk5golfgti.co.uk as there are lots and lots of useful information there.

hi i have a 2007 1.9 td dsg and would highly recommend the dsg.you have your drive mode, sport mode or you can change manually a win win situation.if the miles are high look for service history and if gearbox oil been changed.only problem i have had has been electrical.
