Hello, hoping for some tips/pointers with this problem

2006 Polo 1.4 tdi, won't start on some mornings, just keeps cranking. Other mornings it's absolutely fine, and will start/stop all day long. No running issues at all

Rolled it down the drive to start it on 2 mornings this week, EML light did come on with a flashing coil. Diagnostic shows the following codes:

16706/P0322/000802 - Engine Speed Sensor (G28): No Signal

17911/P1503 - Load signal from Alternator Term. DF: Range/Performance / Implausible Signal

The battery and crank seems strong so not looking like the alternator. Interestingly, the alternator Code was picked up on one of the service history invoices last year(before I bought the car), doesn't look like it was fixed though.

I'm leaning towards crankshaft sensor G28, anyone out there with experience of this problem on the 1.4 tdi's?

You need to get that G28 crank sensor changed.

A bit of an awkward job I belive, think the starter motor needs removing for access.

Also it's easy to round off the allen bolt for the sensor.

Probably easiest to get you local garage to do it.
