Looking at a new Q7 Vorsprung 50 TDI

We test drove a Q7 50TDI S Line on 21s last weekend (with the 2019 286PS engine), and were pretty impressed, particularly with the very smooth engine. We thought that virtual cockpit aside, the pop-up MMI screen looks a little small compared to all th competition and the MMI interface is starting to feel a little old perhaps? The auto box was also pretty slow to respond. But other than that a very nice place to spend time.

I specifically told the salesperson right from the start that I wasn't interested in talking numbers last weekend, as we were evaluating other cars too that day. When I asked the sales person about lead times on builds, he (after checking with his manager) in formed me that all 2019 build slots were taken and they could only supply from a large selection of stock cars. I found this slightly surprising and left without full confidence in the salesperson. However, having had a look on the Drive The Deal page here, I see the same message, to quote:

'Audi have now stopped taking factory orders for the current Audi Q7 as all production slots are full for 2019. Our special offers page has a selection of in stock vehicles available for quick delivery, some with even greater savings. Please click here to view them.'

Anyone know what this might be about, are they trying to flog current stock before a facelift perhaps?

The facelift has some minor changes externally but gets the new dash as in the Q8 etc. Not sure on dates but manufacturing year typically runs June to May so perhaps only a couple of months left on the current model.
